You scream, I scream - We all scream for ice cream!

Elizabeth & I went to Mom & Daddy's this weekend. We got there just before 9 PM on Friday, I believe. Needless to say, E was jacked up from the moment we got there. Eventually (after 11 PM) Mom got her to sleep.

When Mom was getting ready to put E in her bed for the night E, with her eyes rolled back in her head...asleep, said, "I want some ice cream."

We laughed. E stayed asleep.

Mom moved again to get her to her bed, and E says, "How 'bout some ice cream."

On Saturday evening, ONLY GIRLS indulged Elizabeth's craving for ice cream with a trip to the Custard Stand.

Not everything's better homemade

I made buttermilk biscuits this morning. They were good. Better than the stuff from the cans. But they aren't "Daddy's biscuits" (aka Flash Biscuits). His are the best! They are just the right size. They rise just perfectly. They are flaky, but not too much.

I used a recipe. Daddy doesn't use a recipe.

Next time I'm home and he's making biscuits, I need to kick the stool out from underneath Elizabeth and get a lesson from the master in how it is done! That sort of action may not win me any awards for Mother of the Year, but I'm sure there are some best biscuit awards that I could garner.

(This picture is from last month...when Daddy was showing Elizabeth how to clean a trout. She was telling him that the fish had a belly ache.)

Depression sets in...

With the first round loss of the Mountaineers in the Big Dance, I'm officially depressed. With Guss Johnson on play-by-play, that didn't help matters -- he is awwwwful!

May need to consume one or more of the following to help ease the pain...

I have a preference for the Pale Ale...

Elizabeth was pretty funny last night after her first ever shower (she wanted to take a shower, no baths!). Pre-shower, she peed in the potty (which is always cause for celebration around here as she doesn't express a ton of interest in the potty.) Post potty and shower, she wanted to call her Daddy, who was in Charleston, to tell him of her accomplishment (and then Grandma & Nana). She told her Daddy, "Lots of people is going to be happy because I peed on the potty." She also was quite insistent that she wanted to call Julie Cessna, from the Lady Hilltopper basketball team, but surprisingly, I didn't have Julie's number - nor did I think that a 22-year old would find this as the highlight of her evening.

Let the Madness Begin...

I love, love, love this time of year...March Madness! In case you've been in a coma - our cool President made his own pics for the NCAA Tourney. (Perhaps more thoroughly than the year that Kristin won Reid's pool as a result of picking teams because she liked their mascots or colors.)

See how your bracket matches up against President Obama's:

350 Challenge

Attention fellow bloggers & webmasters:

Want to do your part to help the environment? Want to do it for FREE??? Take the 350 Challenge!

350 pounds of carbon offsets will be donated in your name -- like flicking off 100 light bulbs for a day...or turning off all of the power in Washington, D.C., for 5 minutes...

Go to http://350.brighterplanet.com/ and post the badge to your Blog. Then come back and tell them who you are...they'll take it from there! (It's kind of like the Girl Scouts - only without the unfortunate uniforms...or yummy cookies...speaking of which, a box of Somoas (that would be Caramel deLites to those of you west of the Mississippi) is calling my name...)

My badge is on the left-hand side of my Blog.

Thankful Thursday

Today I'm thankful to/for/about:

  • A tot that makes me laugh (and quite a few others, so I'm told!) A couple of weeks ago, when Grandma was here, I was spelling out a word that I didn't want her to catch on to like C-A-N-D-Y. Elizabeth didn't like that she was being excluded from that part of the conversation and told me, "Mommy, don't say it like A-D-C-X-W-Y-Z. That's not very nice!" Or like this past weekend when she was staying at Grandma's house, she strips down out of her PJ's telling Grandma, "I get naked and dance." She's just a pair of light-up clear heels and a pole away from being a stripper. Wait, I need to correct that...a pole away from being an "exotic" dancer. (She has clear light-up princess heels thanks to Caylin Marie!)
  • A thoughtful girl who told me that I wanted ribbit cupcakes for my birthday. We made them (rainbow cupcakes, actually), and they are quite adorable - photos below.
  • A fabulous and talented husband. He debuted on CBS-C as a sideline reporter February 28th and was fan-freaking-tastic! I was so proud of him!!! And last week, he completed his 7th year of broadcasting the entire WVIAC tournament in Charleston...that is 14 games in 4 days...he did play-by-play on all but 2 games. And, I don't think I've blogged about his new position at West Liberty. He's now the Executive Director, Office of Communications for West Liberty soon-to-be University! He's the bomb!
  • Picnics. E's been having a love-affair with having picnics this week. We celebrated my birthday with a picnic dinner. Too precious.
  • The health of my dear Alpha Gam friend, Amy Speck Vinton (and Billy Vinton's) little baby. Alexandria Morgan "Alex" Vinton, born at 2:29 PM, on March 3rd - weighing in at 8 lbs., 15 oz. and was 21 inches long. A few hours after Alex was born, she was transported to Children's Mercy Hospital (Kansas City, KS) because of an abdominal mass in her stomach. Amy found out 2 weeks prior about Alex's condition - the doctors thought it was some type of ovarian cyst. Alex had exploratory surgery the next day, where 250 ml of fluid from a cyst (the equivalent of a can of Pepsi) was removed from her tummy. They kept Alex for a few more days to watch her, but now she is home and doing great!
  • That I got a great birthday present -- the Mountaineers upsetting Pitt in the Big East Tournament 74-60! Woo Hoo! Let's Gooooo Mountaineers!!!
